Connor's "Extraordinary" Idea

I had an idea yesterday:

Today we look upon the past and think "What must it have been like". Take for instance
The American Revolutionary War, the records we have, we have paintings and engravings, but no photography. Though I am not an optimist in this area, with our rapidly advancing technology people can look back at this era in a different way. There has never before been a period in history so well recorded, but perhaps the trick is that people enjoy not knowing...

Connor's poem transcript: A Reaper: Sonnet I

O this reaper by my side,
It travels by me day by day,
Not a gesture, not one say
As we both travel far & wide.
On sunny days it slays my foes
Oh so calmly and so shortly,
And on windy days it just goes
Oh so loudly & so sweetly.
And if this reaper were to strike me down
I would be ever so powerless,
For this reaper has worked my brain right round,
For it has charmed my heart, I confess.
With it I spend my own life,
O this reaper by my side.
This poem is a sonnet, a rhyming poem of fourteen lines and a specific stucture...

Connor's Poems

Every poem I have written so far,
they are Sonnets I-IV, On Standing on Reasons for Life,
Pestilence and Ten Terrible Fruits.

Transcripts will come later.

FROG!

During a thunderstorm today we found a frog in our garden. He was really tame and let us take pictures of him.
My name is Liz and I'm a stay at home mum who home educates her three children, Connor, Kaitlin and Ruby. I love spending time with my children, but I also love crafting. Most of what I make I swap on http://www.swap-bot.com/ Other interests I have are Asian movies, collecting anything Japanese and learning all about witchcraft.

My son Connor, who is 12, is a talented artist, who has recently started studying and writing poetry and plays. He is very interested in history and has started collecting old books. The oldest one he has in 208 years old.

My daughter, Kaitlin, who is 10, wants to be a writer and is writing a novel at the moment. She also writes poetry and short stories. She would also like to work with animals.

My daughter, Ruby, who is 7 is a bug expert and can often be found in the garden collecting bugs to study. She also loves growing things.

Well, I decided to start a blog! This blog is for everyone in my family, so different members will be posting. We called it Dragon Sandwiches because it echoes our interests in paganism, wicca, oriental themes and one of my family names is Drake, which is from the Spanish word draque, which means dragon. Also we just like dragons!
